“Beth McKellar is co-founder of the HandyDart Riders\u2019 Alliance and has used HandyDart to get around for 25 years. She\u2019s also frustrated by the board\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey\u2019re spending all this money on highly paid consultants when they could be having all this free consultation with their drivers and clients. But they don\u2019t listen to us,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s so discouraging and upsetting.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

McKellar is also frustrated with Transdev\u2019s reliance on taxi drivers to fill in service gaps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HandyDart drivers are trained to offer door-to-door service, while taxi drivers expect you to load your own walker in the trunk, she said. \u201cIf I could do that I wouldn\u2019t need HandyDart,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taxis accounted for 24 per cent<\/a> of total HandyDart rides in 2023 and 23 per cent in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
